Digital Governance Nugget #1: Apple Launches New Intel-Based iMac Lineup

A marriage made in heaven! Apple’s marketing strategies continue to amaze me. If the objective is to make the iMacs more familiar to pc users, then Apple continues to succeed.  Apples’s success is based on the use of common software (i.e. microsoft office, windows, etc.) and popular, high-tech hardware. The days of computer users shying away from using Apples is coming to an end.

Demystifying the Mac

Integrating Intel processors into the Mac demystifies the brand for PC owners, according to Technology Business Research Analyst Tim Deal.

“Making the Mac a little more price competitive serves Apple well in the sense that it may lure former PC users or new PC users over to the Mac,” Deal told MacNewsWorld. “The iPod has also done an excellent job in showcasing Apple’s innovation and integration of hardware, software and a Web service. That has probably raised a few eyebrows.”

Apple is trying to raise a few more eyebrows with a special event next week that has analysts speculating about what new product introductions or enhancements will be unveiled for the fourth quarter. Many analysts believe Apple will begin offering full-length movies from its iTunes Music Store.

Apple’s savvy marketing is going to lead to a bigger share of the computer market. Macs are becoming more familiar and therefore more attractive to consumers. Apple’s last move would be to build a more affordable computer. Many of my colleagues expressed interest in purchasing a Mac but were unwilling to pay the hefty price of a Mac. Watch out PC’s! Apple is coming!
